We all know oil changes are important, but knowing exactly when to get one performed on your particular vehicle can be difficult. If you’ve got a 2019 Mazda MX-5 Miata, you’re piloting an incredibly fun-to-drive machine filled with the latest in tech. But, like any car, it still needs to get its oil changed.

For residents of the USA and Puerto Rico:

When the wrench indicator light turns on, it’s time to replace the oil in your 2019 Mazda MX-5 Miata. The maximum oil change interval should be every 12 months or 7,500 miles.

The manual transmission oil should be replaced every 2 years or 30,000 miles.

Rear differential oil should be replaced only if this component has been submerged in water.

The above figures apply as long as you are not operating your car with extended periods of idling/low-speed operation, or commonly driving in dusty conditions. If you are doing these things, then the engine oil and filter must be changed at least once a year or within 7,500 miles since the last change. Whenever you replace the oil in this case, reset the oil change data in your 2019 MX-5 Miata regardless of what the interval light says.

For Residents of Canada:

Replace your engine oil and filter every 6 months or 5,000 miles (8,000 kilometers); whichever comes first. Replace your manual transmission oil every 30,000 miles (48,000 km) or 2 years. Rear differential oil should only be replaced if that component is submerged in water.

  • All of the times/distances on this page apply as “whichever comes first.”
