What’s New for 2020?

There are actually few features of the Mazda 6 that are completely brand new for the 2020 model year, which is unsurprising considering that the Mazda 6 has been the subject of several major upgrades over the past few years—including 3 complete redesigns.
Due to the amount of effort Mazda has poured into upgrading and redesigning the Mazda 6 over the past few years, it makes sense that the multinational automaker made the executive decision to keep the list of new and updated features added to the Mazda 6 short for the 2020 model year. The Mazda 6 was updated for the 2018 model year with a brand-new engine option—a turbocharged 2.5-L, 4-cylinder engine that is both more efficient and more powerful than
the model’s previously available engine option. All Mazda 6 models since 2018—including the 2020 Mazda 6 model—are available with this upgraded optional engine.

For the 2020 model year, the Mazda 6’s bottom three trim levels—Sport, Touring, and Grand Touring—feature a naturally-aspirated 2.5-L inline-four engine that offers 187 horsepower and 186 lb.-ft. of torque. The 2020 Mazda 6’s top two trim levels—the Grand Touring Reserve and the Signature—come with a turbocharged 2.5-L, 4 cylinder engine that is paired with a 6-speed automatic transmission and delivers an impressive 250 horsepower and 310 lb.-ft. of torque.
Other features that are brand new for 2020 are primarily cosmetic and very minor.

Two of the most notable new features for the 2020 model year include a new key fob and updated badge for the sedan’s higher trim levels. All trim levels of the Mazda 6 also rose by $200 each for the 2020 model year, putting the starting prices of each trim level at $24,920 for the Sport, $27,520 for the Touring,
$30,620 for the Grand Touring, $33,120 for the Grand Touring Reserve, and $36,220 for the Signature trim level. However, this slight hike in prices is in line with annual inflation and isn’t significant enough to be a major deterrent for most buyers.
