Power and performance of Mazda CX-5
As mentioned above, there are two Skyactiv®-G engines for the 2020 Mazda CX-5. The Sport, Touring and Grand Touring trims have the SKYACTIV®-G 2.5L DOHC 16-valve 4-cyclinder with Cylinder Deactivation engine. This engine achieves 187 horsepower and 186 lb-ft of torque. The Grand Touring Reserve and Signature trims have the SKYACTIV®-G 2.5T Dynamic Pressure Turbo DOHC 16-valve 4-cylinder with VVT engine. This engine gets up to 227 horsepower and 250 lb-ft of torque. Both engines are paired with a SKYACTIV®-Drive 6-speed automatic transmission with manual-shift and Sport mode. Sport mode makes acceleration more responsive by improving the throttle response.
The engine isn’t the only part that contributes to the power and performance of the 2020 Mazda CX-5. The available i-Activ AWD® will predict when all-wheel drive is needed. It does this by monitoring temperature, throttle input, steering and braking patterns, and windshield wiper usage. If it senses that one of these factors require all-wheel drive, it will help maintain traction without you even feeling the change. Additionally, on the Grand Touring Reserve and Signature models, Off-road Traction Assist will optimize torque distribution and traction while on uneven terrain.
