Mazda CX-5 draws comparison to BMW

Mazda’s SUV Drawing More Comparisons to a BMW

Mazda’s lineup of SUVs has been performing particularly well on the mainstream auto market over the past few years. SUVs are currently topping the trend charts on the auto market, and many drivers have made the choice to switch from a classic 4-door sedan to an SUV or crossover vehicle.

The affordability and value of the SUVs and crossover vehicles that Mazda produces have attracted many drivers who want to join in on the most recent SUV trend without breaking the bank. Keep reading to learn what Mazda has in store for the future of one of its best-selling SUVs: the Mazda CX-5 compact crossover SUV.

What Makes the Mazda CX-5 Special?

The Mazda CX-5 is one of Mazda’s best-selling SUVs. It is a compact crossover SUV that exceeds expectations in terms of power, fuel efficiency, comfort, and affordability. The 2020 CX-5 packs plenty of power with its available Skyactive-G 2.5T engine, which provides 250 horsepower and 320 lb.-ft. of torque with an innovative dynamic-pressure turbocharger that ensures a smooth ride for both drivers and passengers alike.

The newest version of the CX-5 on the market capitalizes on two of the current top trends on the mainstream auto market: a compact crossover SUV design and impressive fuel efficiency. While SUVs are not traditionally renowned for their environmental friendliness, the CX-5 offers impressive fuel efficiency among other vehicles in its class. It reaches up to 25 MPG on city streets and up to 31 MPG on the highway.

The 2020 Mazda CX-5 has an ultra-comfortable cabin that includes high-end materials, which give this compact SUV a luxurious look and feel. It also features a high-quality tech system that accommodates a top-of-the-line infotainment system and a host of advanced safety features.

The cherry on the top of the 2020 Mazda CX-5 is its affordability. The 2020 CX-5 would likely hold its own on the auto market even if it were marketed at a higher price, but this

compact SUV has a starting price of just over $25,000, making it one of the most affordable top-rated vehicles in its class.

What Does the Future Hold for the Mazda CX-5?

Mazda is renowned for its innovative designs that have taken the auto market by storm and kept Mazda at the forefront of the mainstream auto industry for more than 100 years. Mazda isn’t afraid to take big risks with big rewards, and the potential plans that just might be in the works for the CX-5 prove the fearlessness of this automaker.

Rumor has it that the current version of the Mazda CX-5 is projected to undergo a redesign in the near future that will transform this compact SUV into a one-of-a-kind crossover vehicle that is sure to make waves on the mainstream auto market.

There have been reports that the current version of the Mazda CX-5 is set to be replaced by a crossover SUV that will feature rear-wheel-drive and be equipped with an inline-six engine just like a BMW. This new Mazda crossover is projected to come with multiple inline-six engine options, including a 3.3-L inline-six turbodiesel engine and a 3.0-L inline-six gas engine.

These new engine options and a rear-wheel-drive-based design will give the Mazda CX-5’s expected replacement a more luxurious feel and make it more fun to drive. The new replacement version of the CX-5 is set to be named the ‘Mazda CX-50’.

BMW and Mazda vehicles are often pitted against each other in competition on the mainstream auto market, and the suspected redesign of the Mazda CX-5 into the Mazda CX-50 is expected to help push consumers’ choices toward Mazda over BMW.

Only time will tell what the future has in store for the Mazda CX-5, but don’t worry. If the CX-50 does enter the market in the near future, that doesn’t mean that the original CX-5 will be gone for good. Mazda is expected to continue producing the CX-5 alongside the CX-50—at least for a while—as they did in the past with their CX-3 and its CX-30 replacement model.
