The Mazda3 is an excellent car that received raving reviews after the redesigned 2019 model was released. The 2019 Mazda3 Sedan was an IIHS Top Safety Pick when equipped with available Smart Brake Support. Also, the Mazda3 is available as a sedan or hatchback. So, what’s new on the 2020 Mazda3? Let’s discuss the updated specs and features on the new model.

What’s New?

For starters, the 2020 Mazda3 has been updated to have more standard equipment, like Mazda’s i-Activsense driver-assist features and a new standard infotainment system. Additionally, all 2020 Mazda3s will be available with either a six-speed manual or a six-speed automatic transmission. New standard safety features from Mazda’s i-Activsense driver-assist include Driver Attention Alert, Mazda Radar Cruise Control with Stop and Go function, Smart Brake Support, Lane-Departure Warning and Lane-Keeping Assist and High Beam Control.

On the new 2020 Mazda3 hatchback, an 8.8-inch infotainment system with new Mazda Connect software is a standard feature, but it is available sedan depending on the trim level. Changes in the Mazda Connect technology include removing the touchscreen and changing to the multifunction Commander control knob that is in the center console. Mazda Connect is equipped with navigation, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto capabilities and more.

Carry-Over Features

After the 2019 Mazda3 received a face lift and the sharp and sophisticated styling is still featured on the 2020 Mazda3. The SkyActiv-G 4-cylinder engine with 186 horsepower and an EPA-estimated 36 highway mpg that is featured on the 2019 model has carried over to the 2020 Mazda3. The Mazda3 Sedan, Select Package, Preferred Package and Premium Package are still the only trim level options available on the new Mazda3.
